Simba SC Crash Out of CRDB Federation Cup: Fatigue & Defensive Errors Blamed for 3-1 Loss to Singida

Manyara — Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids blamed early defensive mistakes, missed chances, and player fatigue for his team’s 3-1 semi-final defeat to Singida Black Stars, ending their hopes of reaching the CRDB Federation Cup final.

Missed Opportunities & Costly Mistakes

Davids admitted that Singida outplayed Simba in the opening stages, with an early goal setting the tone.

"Congratulations to Singida—they started stronger. We were still in the game, but the second goal from our mistake deflated the team," he said.

Despite a brief resurgence before halftime, including a near-miss header from Kibu Denis, Simba’s hopes faded after conceding an early second-half free-kick.

"We had chances—Mukwala’s late opportunity, Denis’ header—but couldn’t convert. The players fought hard, but fatigue played a role," Davids added.

Grueling Schedule Takes Its Toll

The coach highlighted Simba’s demanding fixture list, with this being their third match in six days, compounded by extensive travel to Singida.

"You could see the fatigue—slow reactions, sluggish transitions. Traveling to Singida’s home ground was tough," he explained.

Looking Ahead: Recovery & Derby Preparations

Despite the setback, Davids remained optimistic, pointing to Simba’s strong CAF Confederation Cup campaign as proof of resilience.

"We’ve battled through tough matches before. Now, with the FIFA break, players will rest and recover for the derby," he said.

However, he acknowledged a challenge: seven Simba players are on national team duty, compared to Young Africans’ three, affecting preparation for the high-stakes clash.

Singida’s Triumph: Discipline & Consistency Key, Says Ouma

Meanwhile, Singida Black Stars coach David Ouma credited his team’s 3-1 victory to discipline, motivation, and consistency.

"The secret? Discipline, motivation, and maintaining our standards," Ouma said after the match at Tanzanite Kwara Stadium.

With a final against Young Africans looming, Ouma vowed to keep the same winning approach:

"Whether it’s Simba or Yanga, our focus doesn’t change—stay disciplined, stay hungry."
